The Bad Fraud Advice Story: Chapter 1

How I became a fraud fighter

Wanted to get into business (whatever that meant)
Studied accounting in undergrad
Became bored of accounting

Took a fraud course while getting my Masters
Wanted a fraud job (whatever that meant)
Ended up with my Masters in Accounting

Only looked good on paper for accounting roles
Promised myself I'd give it a shot for a year.

Didn't take long for me to start looking for fraud jobs.
I was hooked and needed to see it in the real world.

I see the word "chargeback". No idea what it means.
I google it. It's ALL the stuff I'd been wanting to do for years.

I got the job and never looked back.

From Accountant to Fraud fighter.
That's only the beginning of my story.

This is where I started to face the common challenges most fraud fighters go through. My story here isn’t unique. But I wanted to be a voice to the voiceless.

I started posting content for the 22-year old who wanted a job in fraud but kept getting rejected

The 22-year-old who had no idea how break into fraud.
The 22-year-old who thought corporate was the answer.
The 22-year-old who didn’t have the confidence in his work.

But, I’m not creating content for myself anymore.

Now, it’s for:

- Fraud leaders looking to find their own voice.
- Fraud fighters looking to build their own careers.
- Fraud providers who want to amplify their mission.

I post because I wish more genuine fraud fighters shared honest stories and advice when I was first starting out.

What started out as a joke - an outlet to find humor about the common headaches all fraud fighters have has turned content into an audience - and an audience into a movement.

Here’s to elevating the people and profession of fraud.
